Jazz Central

Jazz Central

Jazz has been a part of Central Michigan University since 1956, when the "Swingin' Chips" were organized. Students at CMU can participate in - Jazz Lab I, Jazz Central, JazzBone ensemble and jazz percussion groups. Auditions for jazz bands generally take place the first week of classes.

Highlights in Jazz each year include:

* A performance at the Ford International Montreux-Detroit Jazz Festival

* Performances by all three jazz ensembles as part of the CMU/Phi Mu Alpha Jazz Weekend in Mid-February.
