MaryBeth Minnis

Assistant Director and Assistant Professor of BassoonMaryBeth Minnis

MaryBeth Minnis, is the assistant director of the School of Music and assistant professor of bassoon. She has been principal bassoonist of the Saginaw Bay Orchestra since 1985 and frequently performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony. An active chamber musician she performs with the Powers Woodwind Quintet, the CMU Chamber Winds, and the Fontana Concert Society of Kalamazoo. She has performed and/or presented at the International Double Reed Society Conferences, regional CBDNA Conferences, Michigan Music Conferences, and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago. Each summer she teaches at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and performs with their many faculty ensembles. She received the bachelor of music education degree from Central Michigan University and the master of music in bassoon performance from University of Michigan. Her teachers include Lewis Hugh Cooper and Robert Barris.
