Bennett, Director of Bands at Harbor Springs Public Schools, received his Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Music in Performance degrees from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.   • International flavor: CMU faculty pianist to perform abroad

    Portuguese audiences will soon be treated to the research and talents of a Central Michigan University faculty pianist. Portugal native Alexandra Mascolo-David, a professor of piano in CMU's School of Music, will perform April 21 at the prestigious Teatro Sao Luiz in Lisbon. The solo recital will formally mark the Portuguese release of Mascolo-David's two acclaimed volumes of Francisco Mignone's "Valsas Brasileiras" (Brazilian waltzes), which were released in the U.S. in 2001 and 2007. -read more.
  • CMU prof pens novel based on Vietnam experiences

    It's quite a departure from his usual subject matter and writing style, but one Central Michigan University faculty member's latest writing project tells a story that has been inside him for decades. "The Chaplain's Assistant: God, Country, and Vietnam," the first novel by Timothy Caldwell, CMU School of Music professor of voice, recently was published by iUniverse under his pen name, JT Caldwell. -read more.
  • CMU horn prof sharing musical 'Souvenirs' on new CD

    A Central Michigan University faculty member and two colleagues spent a week of a recent summer making music together, and the "Souvenirs" from their journey will soon be available to the public. "Souvenirs," a compact disc featuring Bruce Bonnell, assistant professor of horn in CMU's School of Music, with internationally known colleagues Vieri Bottazzini, flute, and Peter Green, piano, was recorded in CMU's Staples Family Concert Hall in 2005 and will soon be released on Centaur Records. The project was funded by a CMU Faculty Research and Creative Endeavors grant through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. -read more.
